palmeraie et désert
Palmeraie et Désert was born from Raymond Depardon and Claudine Nougaret’s shared desire to produce their films with complete creative freedom. Founded a few years after they met, the company enabled them to control the entire creative process—from writing to post-production—while asserting a vision of documentary filmmaking that is both sensitive, committed, and deeply human. Claudine Nougaret, a sound engineer and producer, has accompanied Depardon’s work ever since, forming with him a unique artistic duo at the heart of each of their projects.
LES FILMS DU LOSANGE
In 2023, the company Les Films du Losange took over Palmeraie et Désert and its valuable catalogue of 21 feature films and 31 short films. This partnership came naturally: Claudine Nougaret began her career as a sound engineer on Éric Rohmer’s Le Rayon Vert, one of the emblematic films of Les Films du Losange. Later, several of Raymond Depardon’s films were distributed in France by the same company. This union marks an artistic continuity built on a shared commitment to rigorous, independent auteur cinema rooted in reality.
